SharePoint 2007
From Tecniq
SharePoint 2007 also known as MOSS 2007 is a content management system with integrated search functionality developed by Microsoft that allows users to work in a web-based collaborative environment. Microsoft provides certain built-in functionality, and third-party developers can also develop custom modifications to extend functionality. SharePoint is a Microsoft product that manages the tasks and information of an organization with respect to their hierarchy levels.
We have encountered certain issues with SharePoint 2007 which are described below, with the resolutions we took.
- When trying to navigate through a browser, you receive an error "Service Unavailable"
After checking the event viewer, you find: Source W3SVC, Event ID 1059, A failure was encountered while launching the process serving application pool 'Test Pool'. The application pool has been disabled.
When you attempt to restart the pool in IIS manager, it stops soon after.
If you add the user that you set up SharePoint with, to the group "IIS_WPG" with Active Directory, you will be able to restart the pool and service will be resumed as normal.
- You are unable to open the site page "Content and Structures".
If you click "Site Actions" and "View all site content" you can then attempt to open each item to see which have errors opening. Those which have errors, delete them. They will actually go to the recycle bin, so they can be restored should you need to.
SharePoint Designer 2007 will aid you should you have any issues in deleting them.
